Deliverables Web Design Web Development

A web experience for an independent film studio — crafting a digital presence as cinematic as the films themselves. Every design decision, from typography to motion, was built to feel like an extension of the studio's creative vision rather than a standard portfolio template.

The Challenge

Vesperia had a clear visual language in their films — precise, atmospheric, cinematic — but no web presence that matched it. Their previous digital footprint was a generic portfolio template that could have belonged to any production company. For a studio that obsesses over craft in every frame, that mismatch was actively costing them credibility with the filmmakers and distributors they were trying to reach.

The brief was to build something that felt like an extension of their creative vision. Not a website about their films — a website that felt like one.

Direction & Thinking

Motion and interactivity were treated as design decisions from the start, not layered on at the end. Typography and spacing drew from cinematic title card conventions — generous negative space, deliberate rhythm, nothing decorative that wasn't also functional. We avoided the common trap of film sites that lead with a reel: Vesperia's identity is built around restraint, so the site is too.

Navigation was designed to feel like moving through an index rather than a menu — precise, editorial, unhurried. Every transition was choreographed to reinforce the studio's sensibility rather than just signal interactivity.

Outcome

The site was designed and developed end-to-end — visual design, interaction design, and build — and is live at vesperiafilms.com. Every transition, hover state, and typographic choice was made to feel intentional — an extension of the studio's sensibility, not a template adapted to fit it.
